La Baguette & L'Echalote's front-of-house retail team considers it a privilege to serve anyone who walks into our store. After all, you could have chosen any store but you chose to grace us with your presence. That means everything!
We learned long ago that quality of service is as important as quality of product. Equally! When you serve a person across a counter and have the opportunity to look into their eyes and engage in a sincere and caring manner ... all sorts of magic can happen. Making a sale is only part of it. Developing a rapport and a relationship with each and every customer is the goal of all retail staff at La Baguette & L'Echalote. There is no secret to being a successful retail worker. All that is required is that a person must like what they're doing and be happy where they are at this moment in time on this planet Earth. If a retail worker has this it will instantly be communicated to a customer, that customer will be made to feel at ease and the special bond of customer and sales staff can be fostered.
Many of our customers know us on a first-name basis and have been shopping at our Granville Island store since 1982! Generations of families have passed through our doors and many adults come in and reminisce how their parents used to bring them in as kids to buy our marzipan figurines! In a world becoming increasingly impersonal the bond between customer and retail staff is undoubtedly a very important and HUMAN part of most people's days.
There's nothing "only" or "mere" about serving customers in a retail environment. It is a one-to-one personal interaction that can have profound consequences. And that's exactly how we see it!
